Issue |
Explanation |
Solution |
Test is not available when it should be |
There could be a number of reasons for this, but it could be
that your browser is not displaying the right hand side scrollbar
thus being unable to scroll down to see other available tests. |
Either use the 'TAB' key to work your way down the test list page
or 'CTRL-F' to search for the name of the test on the page.
If it's not a technical issue then please contact your tutor in
the first instance. |
Browser reports difficulty saving answers |
This is due to a network interruption |
If your network connection is unstable, take the test in a lab
|
Browser reports blocked ‘Pop Ups' |
Your browser is blocking ‘Pop Ups’. |
This is common under XP SP2. Ensure you have read and acted on
‘ Before you attempt a test’ If you cannot allow ‘Pop
Ups’, take the test in a lab |
Browser displays a security warning |
When a test is taken from the test list a security site warning
is shown. This happens when a the site shows content from both http
and https pages. |
In the warning dialogue box, tick the box to supress future warnings
and click Yes to continue. |
Browser returns Page Expired / Blank Page |
This is due to using forward and backward actions in a browser,
or page refresh |
Don’t use browser navigation buttons. Don’t use F5
(refresh). Switch off mouse buttons set to these actions. Don’t
use ‘Tab – Backspace’ (Browser Back shortcut)
|
Apparent system crash after the ‘5 minutes Remaining’
pop up |
This is caused by clicking the foreground of the screen forcing
the pop up to the back. You can’t see it so the system appears
to have crashed |
Click the ‘Close’ link on the ‘5 minutes Remaining’
pop up, not the foreground. If you do click the foreground, try
‘Alt-Tab’ to retrieve the pop up, close it, ALT-Tab
back to the test screen. |
Submit button does not appear |
This is set to appear once you have viewed all the questions |
Ensure you have viewed all the questions. If you’re certain
you have, and the test is timed, allow the test to time out. Your
results will be auto-submitted. Contact your tutor to confirm. |
Mathematical equations are not being displayed |
The test is using MathML to display equations on the web |
