IT Services will be carrying out scheduled essential maintenance on the Wi-Fi and wired network service between 19:00 and 22:00 on Thursday evening. This will allow for recommended configuration updates to be applied in relation to the network failures in the previous week.

During the maintenance window, it is expected every location on our campuses will experience a loss of wired and Wi-Fi network service for approximately 15 minutes during the evening. Different locations may experience outages at different times between 19:00 and 22:00.

Network Service update

IT Services, working with our supplier Cisco, have continued to implement mitigations to reduce the risk of subsequent network failures. Whilst these measures have already increased the stability of the network, and there have been no additional failures over the past 7 days, the situation remains under close observation.

It is likely that there will be additional planned maintenance and at risk periods over the coming weeks. Advanced notice of future planned outages will be issued, and the frequency of outages will be kept at a minimum, to reduce the impact across the University.
