To comply with our Cyber Essentials certification, the University will be implementing an increase to mobile pin/password length requirements.

From Monday 10th July 2023, all newly created accounts that connect a mobile device (e.g. a smartphone or tablet) to University data and services, will be required to have a minimum eight-character PIN or password to unlock the device.

Please note: This will be in addition to (and will not replace) your fingerprint or face ID.

This change will be progressively rolled out by IT Services, initially impacting newly created accounts. Information regarding existing University accounts will be advised on in due course.

We are encouraging members of the University to move to this pin or password length as soon as practically possible, to avoid any disruption to University services.
